When will Kanwar Yatra 2026 start?
Kanwar Yatra starts as soon as the month of Sawan starts. This time the month of Sawan is starting from 30th July which will continue till 28th August 2026. Devotees can undertake Kanwar Yatra throughout this month. The most important day of Kavad Yatra is considered to be the Chaturdashi date of Sawan Krishna Paksha, it is also called Sawan Shivratri. This time the festival of Sawan Shivratri is on 11th August, Tuesday.

What mistakes should not be made during Kanwar Yatra?
1. According to religious belief, Ganga water kept in Kanwar is very sacred. Therefore, one should avoid keeping Kanwar directly on the ground. Use a kanwad stand if needed.
2. Special care is taken of purity during Kanwar Yatra. Therefore one should avoid touching Kanwar without taking bath.
3. During Kanwar Yatra one should stay away from non-vegetarian food, alcohol, tobacco and any kind of intoxicant.
4. One should avoid arguing with anyone or abusing during Kanwar Yatra.
5. It is believed that Kanwar should always be kept and raised with respect. One should avoid carrying it over any person or object.
6. Kanwar should be touched only by the Kanwariya or the devotee traveling with him. Other people should avoid touching Kanwar unnecessarily.
7. During Kanwar Yatra, one should not do Kshaur Karma i.e. do not get beard cutting done.
