Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami flagged off the first batch of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra-2026 from Tanakpur. On this occasion, he said that the government has made all necessary arrangements for the comfortable and safe journey of the pilgrims.

Tanakpur (Uttarakhand) [भारत]July 5 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday flagged off the first batch of pilgrims for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra-2026 from the Tourist Rest House in Tanakpur in Champawat district.

Speaking to reporters after the flag off ceremony, the Chief Minister said that the state government has made necessary arrangements to ensure comfortable and safe journey of every pilgrim. He said, “It is a very auspicious day that today we are sending off 49 devotees of Lord Shiva for the yatra. It is an emotional moment for me. We flag off this yatra every year. Our endeavor is to make the journey of every pilgrim comfortable and safe. For this, the Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam, the district administration, and the health and police departments are monitoring the yatra.”

CM Dhami further said, “It is a matter of pride for us that the Yatra passes through our border areas and spiritual tourism will increase in the times to come. The pilgrims will get an opportunity to understand the local products and our culture. After completing the Yatra, these pilgrims will serve as brand ambassadors of our culture and heritage.”

Bhoomi Pujan of Sharda Embankment

Chief Minister Dhami on Sunday participated in the foundation stone laying (bhoomi pujan) ceremony for the construction of Sharda embankment at Boom Sharda bathing ghat at Uncholigoth, Tanakpur in Champawat district. The Chief Minister also participated in the ‘Chief Servant Samvad’ programme.

Worship performed on completion of five years of tenure

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Dhami also celebrated completion of five years of his tenure by offering prayers at Bankhandi Mahadev Temple in Chakarpur, Khatima on Sunday.

The Chief Minister visited Bankhandi Mahadev Temple in Khatima and offered holy water as part of the puja. Bankhandi Mahadev Temple is located in his hometown area and he saw the visit as a symbolic gesture to mark his five-year tenure. (ANI)
