Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given instructions to implement ‘Ayush Health and Wellness Policy-2026’. Under the new policy, UP will be made a big center of Yoga, Ayurveda, Panchakarma and wellness tourism, which will also increase employment and investment.
Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given instructions to effectively implement ‘AYUSH Health and Wellness Policy-2026’ in the review meeting of the AYUSH department. The Chief Minister said that the state should not be limited to treatment only but should be developed as a major wellness destination at the national and international level through AYUSH, Yoga, Panchakarma, Naturopathy and wellness services. He said that such a model should be created by linking AYUSH services with modern management, quality standards and tourism, which will increase employment and investment opportunities along with health services.
AYUSH and wellness sector will be linked with religious tourism
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the spiritual and cultural heritage of the state should be linked to AYUSH and wellness sector. He stressed on the possibilities of developing healing and wellness based tourism around religious cities like Varanasi, Ayodhya and Mathura. The Chief Minister directed that AYUSH institutes should be developed not just as treatment centres, but as major centers for wellness, training, research and employment generation.
Thousands of AYUSH health centers are operated in the state.
It was informed in the meeting that at present 3,953 AYUSH health units, 1,034 Ayushman Arogya Mandir, 225 Yoga Wellness Centers and 19 AYUSH medical colleges are operating in Uttar Pradesh. The Chief Minister directed that AYUSH services should be expanded with quality and standardization. For this, modern AYUSH Wellness Center and 100-bed Integrated AYUSH Medical and Training Center will be developed under PPP model.
Panchakarma, yoga and digital health services will get a boost
Under the proposed policy, development of integrated centers of excellence, AYUSH wellness and medical centers and training based institutes has been planned. Panchakarma, yoga, naturopathy, digital health services, research and innovation activities will also be included in these centres, so that patients can get better benefits of modern and traditional medicine.
Government’s focus on private investment and employment creation
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that private sector participation is necessary to strengthen the AYUSH based wellness economy. He instructed the investors to give quick approvals through single window system and prepare time bound action plan for the projects. It was told in the meeting that in the proposed policy, provision has been made to provide investment based subsidy, operating incentives, interest subsidy, exemption in stamp duty and employment based incentives.
New integrated AYUSH colleges will be built in many divisions
The Chief Minister directed to work expeditiously towards setting up integrated AYUSH colleges in Mirzapur, Gonda, Meerut, Agra and Basti divisions. He said that these institutions should be developed as centers of excellence for modern AYUSH medicine, training and research.
Special emphasis on availability of OPD services and medicines
The Chief Minister directed to improve OPD services in AYUSH medical institutions, ensure adequate availability of medicines and promote traditional medical systems like Panchakarma. He said that by linking AYUSH services with quality and public trust, better treatment and wellness facilities should be provided to the patients.
Research activities will increase in Gorakhpur AYUSH University
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stressed on accelerating research and innovation activities at Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath Ayush University, Gorakhpur. He directed to complete the appointment of permanent faculty in the university soon and develop it as a center of excellence for AYUSH medical systems.
