In the presence of Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, the foundation stone of this international cricket stadium to be built at a cost of about Rs 393 crore in Tal Nador area was laid. This stadium will be built in an area of ​​46 acres and will have a seating capacity of about 30 thousand spectators.

Modern sports facilities will be available in Gorakhpur Sports Complex

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the sports complex to be built along with the stadium will bring new possibilities for the players of the state. Modern facilities for both indoor and outdoor sports will be provided here. There will be special arrangements for many other sports including hockey. He said that this project will promote hotels, restaurants and business activities in the surrounding area, thereby creating employment opportunities on a large scale.

Government land will be used for public welfare

The Chief Minister said that Tal Nador area was earlier neglected and encroached upon, but now the government has freed the land and started using it for development works. He said that the aim of the government is to use the government land for the future of the youth and for public welfare projects. He informed that the work of establishing a veterinary college is also being done in this area.

CM Yogi said that the state government has worked towards making Uttar Pradesh mafia-free, goonda-free and riot-free. According to him, due to better law and order in the state, development and employment opportunities have increased rapidly. Taking aim at the opposition, he said that politics that divides the society in the name of caste, language and region is not in the public interest. Attacking the previous governments, he said that earlier power was used to spread nepotism and chaos, whereas the present government is focusing on public welfare and employment generation.

Direct recruitment of 500 players soon

The Chief Minister described the process of direct recruitment for sportspersons in government jobs as a major achievement of the government. He said that till now about 550 medal winning players have been given government jobs. Along with this, he announced to start the new recruitment process of 500 players soon. He said that the players who won medals in Olympics, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and world level competitions will be given appointment letters directly. The CM also listed the names of several players who have been appointed to the posts of UP Police, Naib Tehsildar, District Youth Welfare Officer and other posts.

Sports culture changed under the leadership of PM Modi

The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, schemes like Khelo India, Fit India Movement and Sansad Sports Competition have developed a new sports culture in the country. He said that now both India’s participation and medal count in international competitions have increased. The government is developing sports facilities from village to mandal level. He told that the Sports University in Meerut is ready and it will be inaugurated soon.

CM Yogi said that due to the improvement of Gorakhpur-Varanasi route, the travel time has reduced significantly. Earlier it used to take four to five hours to reach Varanasi, whereas now this distance is being covered in about two and a half hours. Similarly, the journey from Gorakhpur to Lucknow is now being completed in much less time than before. He said that better connectivity has given impetus to both development and employment.

Welcoming Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri in the program, the Chief Minister said that despite the ongoing crisis in West Asia, the Central Government has made better management in controlling the availability and prices of petroleum products in India. He expressed his gratitude for the assistance of Rs 100 crore by Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum from CSR fund for the construction of cricket stadium.
