North Zone Agriculture Conference will be organized in Uttar Pradesh on April 24, in which agriculture ministers and experts from 9 states will participate. KCC, agricultural credit, crop diversification, fertilizer use and increasing farmers’ income will be discussed in the conference.
Lucknow. In view of the efforts of Uttar Pradesh Government to strengthen agriculture in North India, Regional Agriculture Conference (North Zone) will be organized at Centrum Hotel on 24th April (Friday). This conference is being organized under the aegis of the Union Farmers Welfare Ministry.
Agriculture ministers and experts from 9 states will be involved
Agriculture Ministers, Horticulture Ministers, Principal Secretaries, Directors, FPOs, progressive farmers, scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendra and officials of the Central Government from 9 states including Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Punjab and Delhi will participate in this important conference. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Ministers of State Bhagirath Chaudhary and Ramnath Thakur will also be present in the inaugural session.
Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi gave information
Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi, while talking to journalists at Lok Bhavan on Thursday, gave detailed information about the conference. He said that this conference is being organized to discuss many important issues in the interest of farmers.
There will be review on agricultural loan, KCC and infrastructure fund
The progress of agricultural credit, Kisan Credit Card (KCC), Agriculture Infrastructure Fund will be discussed in detail in the conference. Along with this, the role of farmers, startups, FPOs, NABARD, banks, mill owners and processing units will also be discussed.
Focus on pulses mission, edible oil mission and horticulture
In this conference, the works of Pulses Self-Reliance Mission, National Edible Oil Mission, seed agencies, procurement agencies and irrigation companies will be reviewed. Besides, possibilities and development opportunities in the field of horticulture will also be discussed.
Successful models of other states will be presented
The Agriculture Minister said that different states will present their successful agricultural models and schemes. Uttar Pradesh will share its achievements on intercropping with sugarcane and direct sowing (DSR) technology of paddy. Punjab will present new technologies adopted in the field of crop diversification, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand in the field of horticulture. This will lead to exchange of knowledge and experience between the states.
Emphasis on making farmers self-reliant
In the conference, there will be special discussion on measures to increase the income of farmers and make them economically stronger. Stopping black marketing of fake pesticides and fertilizers, increasing balanced use and promoting alternative fertilizers will also be considered.
Big step to reduce urea consumption
The Agriculture Minister said that there is no shortage of fertilizers in Uttar Pradesh. More than 20 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizer is available in the state, which includes about 11.5 lakh metric tonnes of urea. To reduce the consumption of urea, the government will provide about 40 thousand quintals of Dhencha seeds to the farmers. This is likely to reduce the use of urea by about 20 percent.
