Actress Twisha Sharma’s death has left everyone in shock. She was found hanging at her husband, Samarth Singh’s, house in Bhopal on May 12. Since then, her lawyer-husband, who is also accused in the dowry death and harassment case, has absconded.
On Monday, May 18, the Bhopal police announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for a person who will give information about Samarth Singh. The information could help the cops to arrest the 33-year-old Twisha’s husband. For the unversed, Samarth is a son of retired Bhopal district and sessions court judge Giribala Singh. He has been on the run since the case was registered at Katara Hills police station.
Bhopal Police’s actions to nab Samarth Singh
Twisha Sharma was an MBA graduate, a former Miss Pune and an actress in Telugu cinema. She was found dead at her marital house in Bhopal. She was originally from Noida. After discovering her hanging from the ceiling fan, Twisha was rushed to the hospital by her husband and neighbours. However, she was declared dead on arrival.
Her mother-in-law Giribala Singh claimed that Twisha died by suicide; however, her family members alleged that she was murdered over dowry harassment. Police said that the preliminary postmortem report from AIIMS Bhopal showed death due to ‘antemortem hanging ligature’. The autopsy report stated that there were ‘multiple antemortem injuries (simple in nature, possibly by blunt force) over other parts of the body.’
After the case was registered, Samarth Singh vanished, and the cops have formed multiple teams to trace him. A six-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) is probing allegations such as dowry harassment, physical assault and attempts to destroy evidence.
A local court granted anticipatory bail to Giribala Singh but rejected Samarth Singh’s anticipatory bail plea on Monday. In the plea filed on behalf of Samarth, surfacing online, alleging that Twisha was ‘a drug addict’ and ‘she was undergoing psychiatric treatment.’
Twisha’s mother-in-law also claimed that she had taken a medical termination of pregnancy (MTP) pill. “She herself had admitted to consuming marijuana in large quantities. She repeatedly insisted that she did not want a child. Twisha was undergoing treatment under Dr Satyakant Trivedi. Medicines had been prescribed to her, but she did not take them,” Giribala Singh added. Currently, the cops are in search of Samarth Singh.
How did Twisha Sharma meet Samarth Singh?
According to reports, Twisha Sharma met Samarth Singh through a dating app in 2024. After a few months of a relationship, they got married in December 2025 after the approval from both families.
Her demise indeed left her loved ones in shock. Twisha’s co-star Deekshithh Shetty and director Abhilash Reddy expressed grief over her demise.
