There is great news for crores of users using Aadhaar card in India. The government has extended the date for updating Aadhaar card for free by one year. Now users will be able to get their date of birth and address corrected for free till June 14, 2027. For this they just have to go to myAadhaar portal. UIDAI said that this facility will be available free of cost only through online medium i.e. myAadhaar portal. Under this, people can update Aadhaar information by uploading their identity card and address related documents online.
According to UIDAI, the decision to extend this facility has been taken after the positive response received from the people. A large number of people are updating Aadhaar through online medium, which has made the process easier and faster. UIDAI has appealed to the people that those who had made Aadhaar many years ago and have not yet updated their documents, should update the necessary documents soon. This will maintain correct and fresh information in the Aadhaar database.

Apart from this, while giving information on social media platform X, UIDAI said that the old mAadhaar app will be closed soon. Now users can download the new Aadhaar app. Features like secure QR based Aadhaar sharing, better privacy control and easy digital access have been provided in the new app. UIDAI says that the new app will make digital identity more secure and convenient than before.
This is how you can update Aadhaar card online
- First of all go to myAadhaar portal and login with your Aadhaar number and OTP received on mobile.
- After logging in, carefully check the name, address and other information visible in your profile.
- If the information is incorrect, please update it first.
- If all the information is correct, then click on the option I verify that the above details are correct.
- Now select your Identity Proof from the drop-down menu.
- Upload the selected identity card. The file should be less than 2 MB and should be in JPEG, PNG or PDF format.
- After this select your address proof from the drop-down menu.
- Now upload the address proof, then give your consent and submit the form.
