Top gainers and losers: The Indian benchmark indices SENSEX and NIFTY closed in the green on Wednesday, June 24, amid a fall in global crude oil prices, and the rupee strengthening against the US dollar also boosted investor sentiment.
Furthermore, market sentiment turned positive after a report by CNBC Awaaz, citing Bloomberg, suggested that the government may reduce tax for foreign bond investors in the Indian markets.
The SENSEX rallied as much as 1.3% to hit an intraday high of 77,190.37. Meanwhile, the NIFTY50 gained as much as 1.12% to touch the session’s peak of 24,090.05.
On June 24, the SENSEX advanced by 790.54 points or 1.04% to close at 76,991.22. Furthermore, the NIFTY50 surged by 197.55 points or 0.83% to end at 24,021.65.
NIFTY50 top gainers and losers
The NIFTY50 pack was led by gains in InterGlobe Aviation, the parent company of IndiGo, which closed 4.77% higher.
It was followed by Trent (3.60%), Adani Enterprises (3.55%), Tech Mahindra (3.21%) and Bajaj Finance (2.87%), which were among the other top gainers.
Shares of Adani Enterprises rose, along with other Adani Group stocks, amid several key announcements in the conglomerate’s annual general meeting (AGM) on June 24.
On the other hand, the top losers were Bajaj Auto (-2.69%), NTPC (-2.18%), Maruti Suzuki India (-1.80%), Tata Steel (-1.76%) and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (-1.74%).
NIFTY MIDCAP 100 top gainers and losers
The NSE’s Midcap 100 index ended at 62,135.25, up by 64.90 points or 0.10%.
The top winners included Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services (6.75%), Oracle Financial Services Software (6.36%), Exide Industries (5.13%), AU Small Finance Bank (4.54%) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (3.91%).
On the flipside, GE Vernova T&D India (-6.74%), Hitachi Energy India (-6.35%), Tube Investments of India (-2.96%), KEI Industries (-2.77%) and National Aluminium Company (-2.22%) were among the top laggards.
NIFTY Smallcap 100 top gainers and losers
The NIFTY Smallcap index closed higher by 73.40 points or 0.39% at 18,879.30.
It was supported by gains in Pine Labs (7.26%), CreditAccess Grameen (6.29%), Jyoti CNC Automation (5.32%), Ramco Cements (4.55%) and Cholamandalam Financial Holdings (4.08%), which were among the top winners.
On the contrary, the top losers included Triveni Turbine (-6.15%), Data Patterns (India) (-4.26%), Physicswallah (-3.29%), IFCI (-2.55%) and Reliance Power (-2.36%).
