‘Comments against women are shameful’: BJP welcomes suspension
New Delhi [भारत]July 22 (ANI): BJP MP Soumitra Khan on Wednesday welcomed the suspension of Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee from the Lok Sabha for the remaining part of the session. He alleged that the TMC leader’s remarks against women were insensitive and shameful.
Speaking on Banerjee’s suspension, Khan said, “Trinamool Congress has never stood with women. Otherwise, if a senior MP like Kalyan Banerjee ji can make such comments, it shows huge insensitivity and it is very shameful. We all know that Trinamool Congress has never supported women. They have been suspended, and that is a good thing.”
Rebel TMC MP also made serious allegations
Meanwhile, rebel TMC MP and NCPI leader Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar also supported Banerjee’s suspension. He alleged that the TMC MP repeatedly targeted women and used objectionable language against them.
Responding to the suspension, Dastidar said, “Kalyan Banerjee keeps targeting women. He repeatedly abuses them and uses extremely objectionable language. Even today he was using abusive language against women. That is why he has been suspended for the remaining time of this session.”
Law Minister had presented the proposal of suspension
Earlier in the day, Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal had moved a motion in the Lok Sabha to suspend Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee for the remainder of the ongoing monsoon session of Parliament. The proposal came after allegations of indecent behavior and use of foul language against women MPs.
The motion was moved after TDP MP KP Tenneti, sitting in the chair, informed the House that the Speaker had received a written complaint against Banerjee over her alleged conduct and language.
After this the House accepted this proposal.
The complaint alleged that Banerjee showed “unprecedented behaviour” during Parliament proceedings and “verbally abused NCPI members and minister Bhupendra Yadav in her anti-women manner”.
