Those with PNG connection in UP will have to return the cylinder, ultimatum of 3 months; 2000 new connections every day

PNG connections increased in UP.

Lucknow News: A big change is being seen in the field of domestic LPG in Uttar Pradesh. The use of natural gas (PNG) through pipeline is being rapidly promoted. On an average, about 2000 new PNG connections are being issued every day in the state. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India has implemented the Petroleum Products Distribution Order, 2026 through a Gazette issued on 24 March 2026.

Under this order, priority is being given to the expansion and operation of the pipeline network, so that PNG can reach more and more houses. In compliance with this, the Uttar Pradesh government has also given instructions for effective action across the state. At present, 12 City Gas Distribution (CGD) companies are active in the state, which have prepared their infrastructure in most of the districts.

Consumers will not be able to keep LPG-PNG together

Pipelines have been laid in many residential areas and 24×7 supply of PNG is being ensured there. The government aims to ensure that the benefits of this facility reach as many consumers as possible. According to the new notification (14 March 2026), now no consumer will be able to have both domestic LPG and PNG connections simultaneously. Consumers who have both the connections will have to surrender their LPG connection. Also, PNG consumers will not be able to refill LPG cylinders in future.

LPG supply will stop after 3 months

Wherever pipelines have been laid and PNG supply is possible, CGD companies are sending information to consumers through registered or speed post. Along with this, information is also being given to oil companies and LPG distributors. After three months of receiving the notice, the supply of LPG at the concerned address will be stopped.

PNG companies are contacting people by visiting localities, colonies and apartments and motivating them to take PNG connections. The government believes that PNG is not only safe and convenient, but also a more reliable option for consumers due to its consistent supply.
