Those who loot public money will not be spared, Bengal BJP President attacks TMC. BJP Alleges TMC Looted Public Money Says Culprits Will Not Be Spared

Bengal BJP President Sameek Bhattacharya accused TMC of looting public money and said that no one will be left guilty. He denied politics of revenge. On the other hand, TMC has raised questions on the encounter of the main accused in the Baruipur rape-murder case.

Hooghly (West Bengal) [भारत]July 10 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) West Bengal state president Sameek Bhattacharya launched a scathing attack on the Trinamool Congress, claiming that the TMC has “looted public money” in the state and asserted that no culprit will be spared.

BJP’s attack on TMC

Responding to the allegations leveled by TMC over the recent police encounter in the Baruipur rape-murder case, the senior BJP leader kept his party away from vendetta politics. He said that despite alleged political violence on BJP workers, TMC leaders are roaming freely. Bhattacharya told reporters here, “Trinamool Congress can do anything. Don’t compare them with BJP. It (Trinamool Congress) was not a normal political party; it was not a political party at all… Those who have looted public money, none of them will be spared.”

Further attacking the TMC leadership over allegations of state-sponsored atrocities, Bhattacharya highlighted the scale of violence being faced by opposition party workers across West Bengal. The BJP leader said, “More than 300 BJP workers have been murdered, and our sisters have been raped. How many houses have been demolished in this very Hooghly district? From our president to party leaders, no one has been spared. BJP does not believe in vendetta politics; that is why today Trinamool Congress councillors, MLAs and MPs are roaming freely.”

Politics heated up on Baruipur encounter

Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Saugata Roy has condemned the encounter death of Prabhas Mondal, the prime suspect in the rape and murder of a Baruipur minor, terming the incident as a “failure” of the rule of law. Mondal was killed in a police encounter on Wednesday morning when he attempted to snatch the service weapon from an officer and opened fire on the police team.

Speaking to ANI, Roy questioned the police’s decision to kill the accused instead of following the legal process. The TMC MP said, “I condemn the death in this encounter. This has happened within a day of the Chief Minister and DGP’s visit to Baruipur. The rule of law has failed. And I don’t know on whose instructions the police killed an accused instead of bringing him to the dock. I am sure there will be a thorough investigation in this case.”

Mother of the accused refused to take the dead body

Meanwhile, Prabhas Mondal’s mother Sandhya Mondal, in a shocking development, refused to collect her son’s body or bring his remains home. The incident happened when two police officers arrived at Mondal’s residence to inform about Prabhas’ death. Speaking to ANI, Sandhya Mondal recalled the moment when she had just woken up and police officers arrived. He explained his decision to decline the offer to go to the hospital. She told ANI, “I had just woken up when two policemen came to my house. They said your son is dead; would you like to go to the hospital? They said I could go with them if I wanted. I said, ‘I can’t go, my husband is ill… I am in no condition to go… You do whatever you want, I have no objection.'”

What did the police say?

According to Baruipur Superintendent of Police (SP), the incident occurred during reconstruction of the crime scene. Police said that during the process, Mondal, while in custody, attempted to snatch a weapon from a police officer and fire at the police team. In police retaliatory firing, Mondal was seriously injured. He was taken to the hospital, but medical officials declared him brought dead, the SP said.

Mondal was the main accused in the alleged rape and murder of a 12-year-old girl in Baruipur, South 24 Parganas. The 12-year-old girl had gone missing on Saturday and was later found dead in a pond. The alleged rape and murder case had sparked outrage and protests in the area. (ANI)
