Team India got swept in the T20 series against England. The last match was a battle of honor for the Indian team, which had already lost the series, but it lost this battle too. In the fifth and last match played in Southampton, England defeated India by a huge margin of 56 runs. With this, the team captained by Harry Brook made a clean sweep of 4-0. The first match of the series was canceled due to rain. Not only this, England also snatched the number-1 rank from Team India in the T20I rankings.

This match played in Southampton proved to be bad for Team India even before it started. Indian team stuck in traffic in Southampton That the bus could not reach the stadium on time. Due to this, the toss was delayed by 45 minutes, while the match also started half an hour later i.e. at 7.30. Indian captain Shreyas Iyer, who has been winning the toss continuously throughout this tour, won the coin toss here too and decided to bowl first. But after this nothing was good for Team India.

Butler-Brook brutally thrashed

After losing the first wicket in the second over itself, England did not give any chance to the Indian team until its score became winnable. Captain Harry Brook, who was in excellent form, once again defeated the Indian bowlers. But the star of this innings was veteran opener Jos Buttler, who had failed in the series till now. Butler scored a stunning century in just 51 balls and made a world record partnership of 233 runs with Brook.

Butler scored 131 runs (8 sixes, 12 fours) in 64 balls, while Brook could not complete the century but returned unbeaten after scoring 95 runs (8 sixes, 4 fours) in 45 balls. England scored 257 runs after losing only 3 wickets, which is the record for the highest score against Team India. Indian fielding also contributed in this, who dropped 3 catches. In this, Shivam Dubey made the biggest mistake by leaving the catch of Brook at the score of 3 runs.

Team India’s attitude did not work

Team India had called back Sanju Samson for this match and dropped Vaibhav Suryavanshi for this. Even this decision could not change the situation. Sanju scored more than 5 runs this time compared to the previous 3 innings, but here also a big inning did not come from his bat and he was out after scoring only 27 runs. Whereas Abhishek Sharma (3) was out even before him. Ishan Kishan (58), who was a flop throughout the tour, definitely showed some attitude in the last match and scored a half-century but under the pressure of a big target, he too got out.

Captain Shreyas Iyer (28) also scored runs quickly as soon as he came, but his innings also did not last long. Like Ishaan, vice-captain Tilak Verma (53), who failed on this tour and was facing criticism, also batted brilliantly in this match and scored a half-century in just 24 balls. But by then it was too late and the match was out of hand. Ultimately, the Indian team could reach only 201 runs after losing 8 wickets in its 20 overs and lost the series along with the match. Overall, Team India lost 6 out of 7 T20 matches on this tour.
