New Delhi [भारत]July 26 (ANI): India have regained the No. 1 spot in the ICC men’s T20I team rankings after taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the T20I series against Zimbabwe in Harare.
According to the ICC website, the current ICC Men’s T20 World Cup champion India has once again reached the top of the rankings by defeating England. England recently held this position for some time after completing a 4-0 clean sweep of the T20I series at home.
India’s brilliant victory on the strength of batsmen
India’s batsmen performed brilliantly in the second T20I, while in the first match of the series, the bowlers laid the foundation of victory and Vaibhav Suryavanshi played a record-breaking innings.
After losing two early wickets, Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer stitched a 66-run partnership before Tilak Verma played a brilliant inning of 60 off 29 balls.
Ishan Kishan told his strategy
Ishan Kishan, who scored the highest score of 81 runs in 44 balls in the match, told reporters after the match, “Our two wickets had fallen, but batting at number 3, your job is just to see the ball and play your natural game.”
“You have to understand the wicket as well; we had a lot of thoughts going through our minds whether we want to score 250, 230 or is this wicket only good for 170-180 runs.”
“Shreyas Iyer came in, and we just wanted to build a partnership and take the innings forward. And I think we executed our plans well.”
Zimbabwe failed to chase the target
Chasing a mammoth target of 220, the ‘Chevrons’ lost five wickets in the first nine overs and were eventually all out for 129, giving India an unassailable lead in the T20I series.
Both the teams will face each other again on Sunday, July 26. (ANI)
