India vs England: Before the T20 series against England, Indian captain Shreyas Iyer has said something which the fans are not able to digest. While talking to the media, Shreyas Iyer expressed his views on the defeat against Ireland. Captain Iyer said that the defeat against Ireland was not shameful but it was very disappointing and he admitted that the Irish team played better than Team India. However, during this period, Shreyas Iyer also blamed the Belfast ground as the reason for the defeat. Iyer said that the ground in Belfast was not like a stadium, hence Team India faced problems there.

Shreyas Iyer claimed that the ground at the Civil Service Cricket Club in Belfast was quite different from other cricket grounds. Due to which there was a lot of difficulty in setting the fielding. On the other hand, the grounds of India are similar from all sides and hence it is easy to set the field there. Shreyas Iyer said, ‘The ground in Belfast was not like a stadium at all. The outfield was slow and not flat. Also, the shape of the field was square so it was difficult to stop single and double runs. As a captain, it seemed a bit awkward for me to set the field because we are not used to it. Iyer said, ‘We were playing in the IPL, all the grounds were absolutely level from every direction. So the Irish ground was a bit challenging.
But the team lost because of batting
Shreyas Iyer listed many flaws in the field but the question is that Team India lost because of batting. Team India’s bowling was fine in both the T20 matches but all the batsmen failed on the batting front. Shreyas Iyer himself proved to be a flop in both the matches. The amazing thing is that the players of Team India have a lot of experience in playing T20 cricket. If he knew about the ground, why didn’t he keep his shot selection accordingly? Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma, Shreyas Iyer himself was out after playing very bad shots. Actually, the problem here was more the bad habits of the players of Team India than the field. Team India players came to IPL after scoring a lot of runs on bad pitches. They tried to do the same on the Irish pitch and it resulted in defeat. Now it is expected that Team India will understand the grounds of England and will also perform well in batting and bowling because if this does not happen then you are sure to lose the T20 series against England too.
