On Salman Khan’s 60th birthday, the makers of Maatrubhumi unveiled the film’s teaser. Earlier titled Battle of Galwan, the war drama was scheduled for a big-screen release on April 17, 2026. After undergoing a title change, the movie’s release was delayed. Following this, media reports suggested that the project would arrive in cinemas in August this year. However, Maatrubhumi seems to have hit a new roadblock. According to a publication, the Apoorva Lakhia directorial has been delayed again. Wondering why? Read on to know why.
Maatrubhumi faces delay again?
As per NDTV, the Central Board of Film Certification has withheld the clearance certificate of Salman Khan’s .The movie, which said to be based on 2020 Galwan Valley Clash, might miss its August release. Having said that, the makers are yet comment on the same. An official announcement regarding the project’s new release date has been awaited since its last delay.

The report further states that Salman and Chitrangada Singh’s film was earlier accused of misinterpreting the events around the Galwan Valley Clash. It was fought between Indian and Chinese soldiers in 2020. It also mentions that Ministry of External Affairs had stated in January that issues regarding filmmaking in India are handled by relevant authorities.
According to PTI, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal reacted to a question around Maatrubhumi. He was asked to comment on whether Ministry of External Affairs had raised objection to the Salman Khan’s project. “We understand that a film of this nature is being planned. Issues regarding filmmaking in India, as you are well aware, are looked after by the relevant authorities. And as far as we are concerned, MEA has no role in this or such ventures,” he said.
Maatrubhumi is not a conventional war film?
Earlier, a source exclusively told Zoom that is a not a conventional war movie. For the actor, this film is apparently about showcasing the human side of a soldier and emotional duality of living two lives – one on battlefield and one at home. “He isn’t just leading a film, he’s shaping its soul with purpose, ensuring that the story connects with the audiences on a deeply personal and emotional level,” the source added.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Salman has also teamed up with Vamshi Paidipally’s SVC63. The actor will be seen sharing screen space with Nayanthara in it. The project has been scheduled for Eid 2027 release.
