Actress Rhea Chakraborty, who was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) during the Sushant Singh Rajput drug case following his death, recently opened up about her time at the Byculla women’s prison, where she spent around 28 days in custody. She said people inside are better than those outside and praised their kindness and innocence. The actress also said there is no hierarchy in prison and everyone is treated equally. When asked about the food she ate, Rhea jokingly said she plans to write a book about her experiences of enjoying sushi, champagne and more in jail. On a serious note, she also expressed relief at getting her passport back.

who was arrested on drug-related charges in 2020, recently featured in comedian Tanmay Bhat’s YouTube video, where she was introduced as his “1st favourite criminal.” The other participants, including Rohan Joshi and Kullu, also took multiple jibes at Rhea and her past. One of them remarked, “She has done Lock Upp.” The former VJ took the jokes in good spirit and laughed along as they poked fun at her time in prison.
When asked what people inside do for timepass, she said, “They sing, they dance, they make thecha.”
She also spoke about the humanity she witnessed inside prison. “People inside jail are better than people outside jail because most people, at least in the undertrial prison for women, are innocent, and there’s no hierarchy. Everyone’s equal, everyone is a number; there’s no name,” she said.
Rhea was then asked about the kind of food available in prison. Joking about her experience, she said, “Guys, I am writing this book, padh lena,” and added that it would be called “Chudail Ka Badla.”
Rhea Chakraborty On Getting Passport Back
After Tanmay, Rohan and the others made several jokes about her arrest and time in prison, Rhea sarcastically remarked, “Good, you guys find my trauma very entertaining.”
Last year, Rhea received major legal relief in the drug case linked to Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. The Bombay High Court directed the NCB to permanently ,removing a key restriction imposed as part of her 2020 bail conditions. Rhea, who previously had to seek permission before every foreign trip, recalled, “I went on a holiday, my parents went on a holiday. It felt strange not to be stopped at immigration at the airport. They’re like, ‘Okay ma’am, you can go.’”
On the work front, the actress is currently seen in reality show The Traitors 2.
