Here a man waited for his wife, who had been missing for two years, at the polling booth for five hours. He was confident that whether his wife comes home or not, she will definitely come to the booth to vote. His suspicion turned out to be correct.

The commotion started as soon as the wife arrived

However, as soon as his wife arrived, he created a huge ruckus at the polling booth. As soon as the wife reached the booth to cast her vote, the husband caught hold of her and stopped her from voting. A heated argument started between the two regarding this.

This incident took place in booth number 25-238 of Matigara-Naxalbari assembly constituency of Siliguri sub-division. During this incident that took place at the booth on April 23, the day of the first phase of voting, the argument between the husband and wife escalated so much that even the people present at the polling station and the security forces were shocked.

The husband alleged that unless the woman removed her name from her voter ID card, he would not allow her to vote. He also tried to snatch the woman’s voter card.

Seeing the situation worsening, the police and central force personnel present at the spot intervened. Ultimately the woman was allowed to vote and left the place after casting her vote.
