Amitabh Jhunjhunwala, accused in the Reliance Housing Finance Limited money laundering case, has filed a bail petition. Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court has sought a reply from the Enforcement Directorate on this. ED has filed chargesheet against 55 people in the case.
New Delhi [भारत]July 27 (ANI): Amitabh Jhunjhunwala, accused in the Reliance Housing Finance Limited (RHFL) money laundering case, has filed a bail plea in the Rouse Avenue Court. The court has sought a response from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on this petition. ED has already filed a charge sheet against Amitabh Jhunjhunwala and 54 others, which is currently under consideration of the court.
Special Judge (CBI) Hasan Anzar has issued a notice seeking response from ED. Senior advocate Zoheb Hussain, appearing for ED, sought time to file the reply. The court has fixed August 3 for the next hearing of the case. Advocates Soujanya Shankaran and Anmol Sachan represented accused Amitabh Jhunjhunwala. Earlier, the court was told that the ED has already filed a charge sheet against the accused and Jhunjhunwala is currently suffering from health problems.
Chargesheet filed against 55 people
Meanwhile, on Monday the court also heard arguments on the point of taking cognizance and consideration of the charge sheet filed by the agency. On June 12, the Enforcement Directorate had filed a prosecution complaint (charge sheet) against two former senior executives of Reliance (ADAG) group of companies – Amitabh Jhunjhunwala and Amit Bapna – and 53 others, including various corporate entities.
He was arrested in April 2026 in connection with a money laundering case related to an alleged bank loan fraud involving Reliance Home Finance Limited (RHFL) and Reliance Commercial Finance Limited (RCFL), registered by the ED. (ANI)
