Royal Challengers Bangalore made many records with their performance in IPL 2026. The team captained by Rajat Patidar continued the same trend in the finals as well. Bengaluru’s openers made an explosive start against Gujarat Titans and took the team beyond 50 runs in a stormy manner. The opening pair of Virat Kohli and Venkatesh Iyer took the team beyond 50 runs in just 3.3 overs. With this, RCB broke the record of the team’s fastest score of 50 runs in an IPL final.
Gujarat Titans batted first in the final played on Sunday 31 May at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. But the team captained by Shubhman Gill could not perform anything special and could score only 155 runs after losing 8 wickets in 20 overs. But when Bengaluru started chasing the target, it started in an explosive manner and the reason for this was the pair of Virat Kohli-Venkatesh Iyer, who attacked Mohammad Siraj and Kagiso Rabada vigorously.
The start was made by Iyer, who scored 18 runs by hitting 4 boundaries on Rabada in the second over. Then in the next over, Kohli hit 2 fours and Iyer hit 1 four on Siraj. Kohli’s magic was visible again in the fourth over, who hit three fours and a six on Rabada in 4 consecutive balls. As soon as Kohli hit a six on the third ball of the over, Bengaluru’s 50 runs were completed. In this way, Bengaluru touched the 50-run mark in just 3.3 overs i.e. 21 balls. Bengaluru broke the record of Chennai Super Kings, who had scored 50 runs in 4 overs (24 balls) in IPL 2023 against Gujarat on the same ground.
Earlier, the wonders of Bengaluru’s bowlers were seen, who did not allow Gujarat’s batsmen to stay in their own home. Josh Hazlewood, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rasikh Salam Dar together sent back 7 Gujarat batsmen to the pavilion, while Krunal Pandya once again bowled economically and took 1 wicket. Due to this Gujarat could score only 155 runs. The team could reach this far because Washington Sundar played an unbeaten inning of 50 runs and took the team to a matchable score.
