Saif Ali Khan revealed that Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan were first approached for ‘Cocktail’, but after their refusal he signed the film.
These days, there is a lot of discussion about ‘Cocktail 2’ movie. Kriti Sanon, Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna starrer movie has joined the Rs 100 crore club. Just like this movie, ‘Cocktail’ was released in the year 2012. Even today it is counted among the most favorite romantic films of Bollywood. The acting of Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty starrer is still on people’s lips. However, the casting of this film was not so easy. Recently, in an interview given to Variety India, Saif Ali Khan revealed that before him the film was offered to many actors including Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan, but they had refused to do it.

Saif told that Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty had already been finalized in the film, but the makers were not getting the male lead. According to him, the reason for this could be the very strong character of Veronica (Deepika) in the film. Saif said, “They had Deepika and Diana, but couldn’t find a hero. Maybe because Veronica’s character was so brilliant. I remember talking to some other actors too, including Imran Khan and Ranbir Kapoor. Then I said, okay, I’ll do it.”

On his decision to play the character of Gautam, Saif jokingly said, ‘He should be thankful to me that I did this film. I enjoyed this film very much. The experience of working with Homi Adajania was wonderful.
Deepika Padukone’s best character
‘Cocktail’, directed by Homi Adajania and produced by Dinesh Vijan and Saif Ali Khan, proved to be a hit at the box office. Especially Deepika Padukone’s character of Veronica is considered to be the turning point of her career.
