Rajasthan woman bludgeons alcoholic husband to death with iron rod; detained

New Delhi: A woman has been detained for allegedly murdering her husband in Lunkar Khurd village under the Sankra police station limits of Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer.

The deceased, identified as Hanumanram, was found dead at his residence early Sunday morning. According to police, the victim was sleeping in the courtyard when he was allegedly attacked by his wife with an iron rod the previous night.

Man used to consume alcohol and fight with wife

A police team reached the spot after receiving information and conducted a preliminary inspection. Pokaran Circle Officer Bhawani Singh also visited the scene, while Jaisalmer Superintendent of Police Abhishek Shivhare reviewed the situation.

Initial findings from the police pointed to a domestic dispute. The deceased allegedly used to consume alcohol on a daily basis and quarrelled with his wife. However, officials said the exact sequence of events and motive are being verified. The couple had been married for around 12 years and have four children.

What cops said about the murder

The police received information about the murder at around 5 am. During the probe, it became clear that the accused, identified as Amka, allegedly carried out the attack.

Prima facie, the motive appears to be prolonged domestic abuse, as the deceased was allegedly addicted to alcohol and used to assault his wife, police said.

The accused woman has been taken into custody, and her statement is being recorded. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination. Further investigation is underway, police added.
