7 tractors of garbage came out of drains in Raigarh. The Corporation Commissioner got the cleaning done on the spot and warned the citizens not to throw garbage in the drains.
Raigarh. To provide relief from the problem of waterlogging in Raigarh city, the Municipal Corporation is continuously cleaning and improving the drains. Under this campaign, Corporation Commissioner Brijesh Singh Kshatriya inspected Sanjay Market, Subhash Chowk Marg and Shanti Lodge Gali in front of Alok City Mall. During the inspection, he himself remained present on the spot and monitored the works related to cleaning and drainage.
Drain chamber found jammed in front of Alok City Mall
During inspection, the most serious situation was seen in front of Alok City Mall. The drain chamber located here was completely blocked. When the cleaning was started, a huge pile of plastic bottles, disposable material, single use plastic, packaging waste, plastic bottles and other solid waste was found.
According to the Municipal Corporation, about seven tractor-trolleys of garbage and debris were taken out from the drain. Such a large amount of accumulated garbage had completely blocked the flow of the drain, due to which the rain water was not able to move forward. This was the reason why waterlogging was occurring repeatedly in Sanjay Market and Subhash Chowk areas during the rains.
Drainage restored after seven tractors removed garbage
After complete cleaning of the drain chamber, the drainage system became normal again. The Corporation Commissioner instructed the officers on the spot that such sensitive places should be regularly monitored so that the problem does not arise again. Officials believe that if this cleaning was not done in time, waterlogging in this part of the city could have become more serious in the coming rains.
Solution found by cutting the road in Shanti Lodge street
In the next phase of inspection the Commissioner reached Shanti Lodge Gali. Here investigation found that the water from the small drain was not reaching the big drain, due to which water was accumulating. To find a permanent solution to the problem, the small drain was connected to the big drain by cutting the road. Along with this, the entire drain was also cleaned. After this improvement, it is expected that water will drain out faster than before during the rains and the problem of waterlogging in the area will be reduced.

During the inspection, Municipal Commissioner Brijesh Singh Kshatriya said that the Municipal Corporation is regularly cleaning the drains and drains, but the negligence of citizens and business establishments sometimes affects the entire system. He said that plastic bottles, disposable materials, thermocol, packaging waste and other solid waste are thrown into the drains. This waste gradually accumulates and blocks the flow of water and creates a waterlogging-like situation even in small rains.

Clean and waterlogging free city is not possible without public participation
The Municipal Corporation says that it is not the responsibility of the administration alone to make the city clean and waterlogging free. Active participation of citizens and businessmen in this is equally important. The corporation administration has urged people to stop and make people aware if they see any person dumping garbage in the drains. In the coming times too, special cleaning campaigns will be conducted in such sensitive areas so that the drainage system can be further strengthened.
