However, ticket sales in Telangana have not yet gained full momentum, due to which trade experts believe that there may be a big jump in the booking of the film in the last hours. According to trade reports, the film has registered advance bookings of around Rs 5.39 crore, excluding block seats, for the first day in India. Global advance sales have crossed the figure of Rs 12 crore. There are reports of great response abroad, especially from North America.
‘Peddi’ still behind the record of ‘Game Changer’
Although the advance booking of ‘Peddi’ is considered strong, there is still a difference compared to Ram Charan’s previous film ‘Game Changer’. According to reports, ‘Game Changer’ had collected advance bookings of around Rs 26 crores before its release. In such a situation, ‘Peddi’ will have to take a big leap at the last minute to reach that level.
Telugu version of ‘Peddi’ became the biggest gamechanger
According to data available as of 6 am on June 3, the Telugu version of the film contributed the highest in India. The film grossed Rs 5.31 crore by selling more than 2.20 lakh tickets in 2409 shows. On the other hand, advance bookings of around Rs 3.46 lakh were recorded for the Tamil version and around Rs 18.54 lakh for the Hindi version. Advance booking has started in both the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, but it is still not at full speed in Telangana. According to reports, ticket sales have been affected at many places due to pending government approval regarding premiere shows and increase in ticket rates. Trade experts believe that once the approval is given, there may be a sharp jump in bookings.
Approval to increase ticket prices
According to reports, the Andhra Pradesh government has given permission to increase ticket prices by Rs 100 in single screen theaters and Rs 125 in multiplexes for 10 days from June 4. Apart from this, theaters have also been allowed to run five shows daily. This is expected to give a big boost to the initial earnings of the film.
Great performance of ‘Peddi’ in North America
The performance of ‘Peddi’ in foreign markets is said to be very encouraging. According to box office reports, premiere advance sales in America have reached close to 8 lakh dollars. At the same time, total advance sales in North America are said to be beyond 8.82 lakh dollars (about Rs 8.39 crore).
