Delhi Cab Murder: Cab driver Bablu, who kidnapped and raped a 10-year-old girl from the footpath, was arrested within 4 hours, shot in the leg in a police encounter when he tried to escape. The truth of a horrifying incident is like a suspense thriller!
New Delhi: “Papa, save me…” This was the last painful scream echoed on the footpath of South Delhi, which took away the sleepless nights of a helpless father forever. By the time a helpless father, hearing the plea of his 10-year-old innocent daughter, regained his senses and ran after the white car parked in front, taking advantage of the darkness, that car had disappeared to carry out a horrifying conspiracy that gave goosebumps. On Monday night, a drug-addict driver running an app-based cab in the capital not only kidnapped the innocent child, but crossed all limits of brutality, raped her and strangled her to death with a scarf.
The family was sleeping on the footpath and the ‘demon’ emerged from the darkness
Everything was calm under the sky of Delhi on Monday night. Originally the laborer family was sleeping on a footpath in South Delhi to earn their living. The victim, a 10-year-old girl, was fast asleep next to her parents and three siblings. Just then a white colored commercial hatchback car stopped there. Bablu, a resident of Bihar, who used to drive an app-based taxi in Delhi, was sitting on the steering wheel of the car. According to the police, Bablu was extremely drunk at that time and was waiting for a ride. Then his vulture-like eyes fell on the little girl sleeping on the footpath. That car remained standing there since around 4 in the morning, as if it was waiting for the right opportunity. Exactly at 5 o’clock, when the silence was the deepest, Bablu caught hold of the innocent child. Hearing the girl’s scream, the father’s eyes opened and he ran wildly after the car, but his helplessness was defeated by the speed.

Four-hour high-voltage search operation and GPS trap
Immediately after the incident, the victim’s father called the Police Control Room (PCR) and informed about this dreadful kidnapping. Delhi Police swung into action and a very complicated four-hour search operation began. The biggest challenge faced by the police in the initial investigation was that the model of the car was visible in the fragmented CCTV footage, but its registration number was not clear. The investigators worked outside the box. Since the car was parked there for about an hour, the police asked the ride-hailing app companies for data on trip and driver logs of that particular area. The mobile location of the accused was matched with this digital surveillance, other cameras on the highway and the in-built GPS (Global Positioning System) of the vehicle. Eventually, the police tracked the movement of the car and surrounded it from all sides in Vikaspuri area of West Delhi.
‘Normal behavior’ of brutality and murderer in the forest 20 kilometers away
After the arrest, when the police took Bablu on strict remand, the confession he made gave goosebumps even to experienced police officers. Bablu told that after the kidnapping, he had taken the girl in a screaming condition to Gurugram-Faridabad road, about 20 kilometers from Delhi. Seeing a very deserted place there, he stopped the car and dragged the girl inside the dense forest. Crossing the limits of brutality, he raped the innocent child and when she tried to raise noise, he strangled her with the girl’s own scarf. Throwing the dead body in the bushes, he came out as if nothing had happened. What is shocking is that soon after committing this heinous crime, he took a common ride from Gurugram to Vikaspuri in West Delhi. His behavior while dropping the ride was so normal that no one could have guessed that this person was coming after shedding the blood of an innocent person.

Accused injured in encounter, serious questions raised on cab companies
On Tuesday, when the Delhi Police team was taking accused Bablu to the incident site on Gurugram-Faridabad Road for identification and collecting evidence, he tried to escape from the police. The accused tried to run away by snatching the government weapon, after which the police retaliated in the encounter and the accused Bablu was shot in the leg. He collapsed there bleeding and was admitted to the hospital.
How many cases are registered against Bablu?
Police investigation has also made it clear that Bablu has an old criminal history and 5 serious cases of assault and murderous attack are already registered against him in Bihar. The wife and children of the accused live in Bihar. After this incident, Delhi Police is now preparing to issue a strict notice to the app-based taxi service provider companies as to how such a dangerous criminal was allowed to drive the cab without proper police verification (criminal background check). This incident has left a big question mark on the safety of women and children in the capital.
