Mouni Roy Controversy: Mouni Roy got trolled for becoming Varun Dhawan’s on-screen mother, said – People’s words did not matter, only David Dhawan’s happiness mattered to me.
40 year old Mouni Roy has come out of TV and now on the big screen. The actress was recently seen in David Dhawan’s film ‘Hai Jawaani To Ishq Hona Hai’. In this film, she was seen playing the role of Varun Dhawan’s on-screen mother. There was a lot of discussion on social media about her becoming the mother of an actor just one year younger than her. Mouni also had to face trolling. However, the actress has made it clear that she was not affected by this controversy.
Mouni said on trolling – people’s words did not make any difference
In an interview given to News18, Mouni Roy said that she was not at all affected by the criticism going on on social media. According to him, his entire focus was only on meeting the expectations of director David Dhawan and playing his character properly. Mouni said that I cannot do anything about it. It didn’t matter to me what people were saying. The most important thing for me was that my director and the entire team were happy with my work.
Mouni herself was surprised to hear the role of mother.
Mouni revealed that when casting director Mukesh Chhabra told her about this role, her first reaction was one of surprise. He had asked, ‘His mother?’ After this, when David Dhawan and dialogue writer Farhad Samji told her the entire story, she burst out laughing. This mother-son relationship in the film is not real but is part of a fun comic twist. She enjoyed working with Varun Dhawan.
Expressed happiness even after being kept away from promotion
Mouni Roy told that the film team deliberately kept her away from the promotional campaign, so that the audience remains curious about her character. According to him, this decision proved to be right because the question remained in people’s mind as to what is his role in the film.
Mouni Roy is a big fan of David Dhawan
The actress praised David Dhawan and said that his films have always been her ‘comfort watch’. Mouni also told that she was told that this could be David Dhawan’s last film. Also, this was her first time working in the comedy genre, so she was very excited about this project.
