New Delhi: An Indian cargo ship got stuck in the Arabian Sea due to a technical fault, after which the Pakistani Navy came forward to help. The engine of this ship named ‘MV Gautam’ had stopped in the middle of the sea. A Pakistani Navy surveillance ship rescued him.

This ship was going from Porbandar in Gujarat to Muscat. After the engine failure, the ship started drifting uncontrollably in the sea. Soon after, a signal for emergency help was sent from the ship.

There were six Indians and one Indonesian national on board. The call for help was first received by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center of Mumbai. From here a request for help was sent to Pakistan. At that time the Pakistani Navy ship was patrolling in the sea. As soon as the message was received, Pakistani naval officers reached the Indian ship. He provided drinking water, food and medicines to the ship’s crew.

Pakistan has provided this help under international rules related to accidents occurring at sea. Despite strained relations with India, this move of the Pakistani Navy is being much talked about. Last month also, the Pakistan Navy had rescued 18 foreign sailors on an emergency call in the Arabian Sea.
