G7 summit has been organized in Evian, France.
The summit of G7, the group of the world’s richest countries, has started from Tuesday in Evian, France. India has also been invited for the summit. Today PM Modi will participate in this summit and will talk to the heads of state of G7. India is not a part of the G7 group, yet PM Modi has been invited for it. G7 is a group of 7 major economies and developed countries of the world. This group includes America, France, United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Italy and Canada. Now let us understand why India participates in the summit despite not being a part of this group. There are many big reasons for this, not just one or two.
It is important for G-7 to interact with India in many ways. India’s economy is bigger than countries in this group like Canada and France. According to the International Monetary Fund, ‘India is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Growth prospects are stable in most countries of the world, but the prospects are greater in India.
India’s support necessary in making strategy
India has also left China behind in terms of population. 68 percent of the country’s population is working. The number of young, semi-skilled and skilled people here is high. America, Japan and European countries are focusing on making such policies in which coordination can be increased in the Indo-Pacific region.
G7 is called Group of Seven.
In the last few years, Britain, Germany and France prepared their strategies related to the Indo-Pacific region. At the same time, Italy had also expressed its desire to join this region. The reasons are not only this. India has never supported any group. The foreign policy has been clear. India has good coordination with western countries. Economic relations are better. These countries are democratic like India.
Most of India’s skilled workers turn to these countries for work and studies. India never participated in the policy of America and Western countries in imposing sanctions on other countries. This is the reason why India’s growing status in the world cannot be denied.

G7’s declining economy and India’s rising status
According to BBC report, in the 1980s, the GDP of G7 countries was about 70 percent of the total world GDP, but now it has come down to 40 percent. The report of Hudson Institute says, even though G7 are influential countries, there is a possibility of their status decreasing in future. In such a situation, India can also become a new member of the G7 group. There has been speculation for a long time about India becoming a member.
