Nissan introduced the plug-in hybrid Terrano concept at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show. Its production model will come in a year. In India, the Terrano’s successor, the Tecton SUV, will be launched with a 1.0L turbo engine and ADAS.
Nissan has 2026 has officially introduced its iconic SUV, Terrano Concept at the Beijing Auto Show. This powerful model has made a comeback with a plug-in hybrid engine. The company has not yet given its technical information, but looking at its design, it is being estimated that it may be based on a strong ladder-frame architecture. Nissan has also confirmed that the production version of the Terrano concept will be launched within a year. Apart from this, the company also plans to launch three more NEV (New Energy Vehicle) models in China within a year.

In its new avatar, the Nissan Terrano looks like a boxy and rugged SUV with many elements for off-roading. It has strong body cladding, large lower bumper, large mirrors and simple surface design. Its design seems to be heavily inspired by the Land Rover Defender, especially its rear part. Its flat rear profile features a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, which is covered by a thick bar that connects the LED taillights. The vehicle is also provided with a side ladder to access the roof rack. However, it is important to note that the production model may differ slightly from the concept.

Now let’s talk about Nissan Tecton, which is going to be launched in India. Nissan is preparing to bring its new SUV in India. According to reports, it may hit the market in June this year. This SUV is being considered as the successor of Terrano i.e. the next model. Nissan has shown its exterior design in a teaser. The Tecton features high ground clearance, stunning body work and modern design elements, making it a perfect mix of vintage and modern SUV. The front of the SUV will feature square and sleek headlamps with angular DRLs, which will be connected by a light band. There will be two horizontal strips on the radiator grille that will span the entire width, almost touching the headlamps. Power dome lamps and a sharp bumper will also be seen on the bonnet.
Inside the car also you will get to see a modern but tough theme. The dashboard, door panels and center console will have a combination of modern layout and design with rugged touches. Talking about the features, the company will provide 15 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), Adaptive Cruise Control and 360-degree camera setup. For safety, 6 airbags will be available as standard. Talking about the engine, the Tecton can get a 1.0-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder petrol engine, which will be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
