Mumbai/Pune: The murder case of 25-year-old software engineer Ketan Aggarwal, which took place in the historical Lohagarh Fort of Pune, has shocked the entire country. The technical surveillance team of Pune Rural Police, which is investigating this sensational murder case, has got the biggest and most horrifying digital evidence so far. Forensic investigation has revealed that accused Siya Goyal, 20, had made a ‘secret call’ to her lover and co-accused Chetan Chaudhary (22) just 34 minutes before she pushed her fiance Ketan down the hill. According to the call details record (CDR), this was the call which is being considered as the ‘final green signal’ for the dreadful murder conspiracy. Police believe that during this call, Sia gave Chetan the exact location of the view-point of the fort and ensured that there were no other tourists present nearby. Soon after, both of them deleted their WhatsApp and Instagram chats and voice notes so that no evidence was left.

The technical surveillance team of Pune Rural Police has started forensic investigation of the mobile phones of both the accused. Investigators suspect that the conversation between Siya and Chetan before the murder may contain important clues related to the planning of the incident. According to sources, during the call between the two, there was allegedly a discussion regarding Siya’s location in Lohagarh Fort and the surrounding situation. Police believe that this conversation could be part of the preparations before the incident. The investigating agencies are now trying to recover deleted WhatsApp messages, voice notes and social media chats. Apart from this, mobile location data, internet IP address and call records are also being mixed.

Meanwhile, a massive candlelight march was taken out at Belmondo Society on the outskirts of Pune for peace and justice for the soul of slain Ketan Agarwal. During this time the entire atmosphere was filled with sorrow and anger. Ketan’s father Vishal Aggarwal tearfully made an emotional appeal to eyewitnesses. He said, “Some people are secretly messaging us that they were present at Lohagarh Fort on June 18 and have seen the moments before or after the incident, but they are not going to the police out of fear. With folded hands, I urge all of them to come forward and get justice for Ketan. I assure that they will not have to face any legal trouble or problem.”
“Our own people betrayed…”
The pain of Ketan’s grandfather Devi Chand Aggarwal, who participated in the candlelight march, was also expressed. Crying, he said, “Our own people, whom we knew for many years, betrayed us. If Siya did not want to get married, she would have refused in the beginning, why did she take the life of my child? We want that every person involved in this marriage should be investigated and both Siya and Chetan should get the only death penalty.” On the other hand, the police interrogated Siya’s parents Praveen and Pooja Goyal for several hours. However, Sia’s mother has clearly denied the allegations that she had put any pressure on her daughter for marriage.

Ujjwal Nikam will fight the case, will tighten the noose with digital evidence
Deputy Superintendent of Police Gajanan Tompe said that the cyber wing of the police is matching the deleted data, location logs and internet IP addresses of the accused with the help of forensic experts. The police will present this in the court as concrete evidence under Section 103 (murder under premeditated conspiracy) of the Indian Justice Code. Officials have completely rejected the rumors that Ketan’s wearing a hair patch was the reason for the murder. In this fight for justice, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has consoled the victim’s family and assured fast-track hearing of the case. The country’s most senior and well-known lawyer Ujjwal Nikam has been appointed as the Special Public Prosecutor (government lawyer) for this high-profile case, due to which the escape of the accused now seems impossible.
