New Delhi: Narendra Modi is now going to become the leader who has been the longest serving Prime Minister after coming to power through elections. On June 10, Modi will complete 4,399 consecutive days as Prime Minister. With this he will break the record of the country’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. At the same time, the Modi government is also entering the thirteenth year of its tenure.
Narendra Modi took oath as Prime Minister on 26 May 2014. On June 10, he will complete 4,399 days in this post. By doing this, he will leave behind Nehru’s record of being Prime Minister for 4,398 consecutive days after being elected through elections. Nehru’s tenure was from 13 May 1952 to 27 May 1964. However, he was also the Prime Minister from 1947 to 1952, but he was not elected through elections then. At the same time, Indira Gandhi was the Prime Minister for 4,077 days (from 24 January 1966 to 24 March 1977).
Meanwhile, the Modi government has entered the thirteenth year of its tenure today. The third Modi government has achieved political stability after landslide victories in West Bengal and Bihar. The government hopes to pass big bills like delimitation, women’s reservation and ‘one country, one election’. However, issues like irregularities in NEET and CBSE examinations remain a challenge for the government.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India has seen many changes in the last 12 years. He said, “The welfare of the poor and marginalized has been at the center of all these changes. Taking inspiration from ‘Antyodaya’, we have always tried to extend the benefits of development to those people where development had not reached for decades. From Jan Dhan accounts, Direct Benefit Transfer to Swachh Bharat, PM Awas Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission and Ayushman Bharat, every scheme has the same objective – to give respect and opportunity to the people.”
