National Testing Agency has canceled the NEET exam held on May 3 after the paper leak controversy and now the exam will be conducted again across the country. Although the new exam date has not been announced yet, NTA has clarified the biggest concerns of the students, such as fees, form, admit card and syllabus. Will I have to fill the NEET UG 2026 form again?
NTA has clarified that students will not need to apply again. The registration already done for the May 3 exam will be valid for the re-exam. That means you will not have to fill a new application form. No need to select exam city again. The data already submitted will automatically remain valid. For the time being, the agency has also indicated that the examination centers may remain the same, although some changes may be announced later due to security reasons.
NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam: Will I have to pay NEET UG exam fees again?
After the cancellation of NEET UG Exam 2026, the biggest question was whether students will have to pay fees again? Giving relief on this, NTA has said that no additional fee will be charged from the students for re-exam. Along with this, the agency also said that the examination fees deposited earlier will be refunded. However, detailed information about when and through what process the refund will be given will be released later. This decision is being considered as a relief especially for those students and families who are already going through the pressure of coaching, travel and application expenses.
NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam: Will new admit cards be issued?
NTA has made it clear that the admit cards issued for the examination of May 3, 2026 will no longer be valid. To appear in the re-exam, students will have to download new admit cards. The agency will issue fresh admit card with new date, exam center and necessary instructions before the exam. Therefore students are advised to trust the official updates only.

Amidst this entire controversy, one relief is that the syllabus and pattern of the exam will not change. According to NTA, the same old syllabus of Physics, Chemistry and Biology will remain applicable. The number of questions and exam duration will remain the same. There will be no change in the marking scheme. That means students do not need to change the direction of their preparation.

Why was NEET UG 2026 exam cancelled?
The matter became increasingly serious after the allegations of paper leak. Investigating agencies, particularly the Rajasthan Special Operation Group, found a so-called “guess paper” which was said to be very similar to the real exam. Preliminary investigation revealed that about 120 questions matched the actual paper. Of these, about 90 questions are said to be from Biology and about 30 questions are said to be from Chemistry. After this, questions were raised on the credibility of the examination and finally NTA decided to cancel the examination.

NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam: Now CBI will investigate the entire paper leak network
Considering the seriousness of the matter, the Central Government has handed over the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The agency will now find out how the paper was leaked, where the guess paper came from and which organized network was working behind it. At present experts are advising students to stay away from rumors and maintain their preparation continuously. Since the syllabus and exam pattern have not changed, it will be more important to focus on revision and test practice instead of changing the strategy. NTA may release the new date of re-exam soon. In such a situation, it will be most important to keep an eye on the official website and notifications.
