The case started from Rajasthan, investigation revealed shocking signs
The issue of NEET UG 2026 paper leak was first reported from Sikar district of Rajasthan. The investigating agencies had received some handwritten questions, which were matched with the actual question paper. Initial investigation found that around 140 questions and the sequence of their options matched the original paper. This was the point that made the whole matter serious. When the Rajasthan Special Operation Group (SOG) proceeded with the technical and documentary investigation, the suspicion was strengthened that the question paper had already gone out before the examination.
NTA handed over the matter to central agencies
As allegations of paper leak increased, the National Testing Agency (NTA) referred the entire matter to the central investigating agencies on 8 May. After this, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) also started investigating the alleged leak. NTA has appealed to the students, parents and all concerned parties to wait for the official information and not to rely on any rumour.
Why did the government decide to cancel the exam?
According to sources, the facts revealed in the investigation had raised serious questions on the fairness of the examination. A large number of questions matched the actual paper indicating that the confidentiality of the examination had been completely compromised. For this reason, the government decided to cancel the examination and conduct it again. Officials believe that if the examination were to be continued, it would be injustice to lakhs of honest students and would affect the credibility of the entire selection process.
New challenge in front of 22 lakh students
NEET UG is the most important means of admission to MBBS, BDS and other medical courses in medical colleges across the country. This time more than 22 lakh students took the exam. In such a situation, the news of re-conducting the examination has increased both tension and confusion among the students. However, many students and parents believe that if paper leak is confirmed, then re-exam is a necessary step for fair examination.
Update on new exam date will come soon
At present the revised exam date has not been announced by NTA. It is believed that a new date will be issued after reviewing the reports of the investigating agencies and review of security arrangements. The agency is now preparing to implement additional protocols to make the examination process more secure so that such incidents can be prevented in the future.
