CBI will now conduct a comprehensive investigation into the allegations, which smack of irregularities ranging from paper leaks to those at the examination centres. The government has a clear message that any criminal playing with the future of lakhs of students will not be spared.

In an emotional post on social media platform ‘X’, NTA acknowledged that the decision will cause immense mental and physical suffering to the candidates and their families. The agency said, “We are not taking this result lightly. Re-testing is inconvenient, but choosing any other option would have caused long-term damage to the trust in our testing system on which the country rests.” What is noteworthy is that more than 2 lakh personnel and 6,000 invigilators were deployed on the day of the examination, yet the breach took place.
