Actor Vijay’s party TVK has demanded complete abolition of NEET exam. The party wants that the states should get full rights over medical education by including education in the state list. TVK also accused DMK of making a false promise of abolishing NEET.
Chennai: Amidst the irregularities in the NEET exam, actor Thalapathy Vijay’s party ‘Tamizhag Vetri Kazhagam’ (TVK) has given a big statement. The party has said that it is not just opposing the rigging in NEET, but demands the complete abolition of this examination. TVK has also demanded that states should be given complete authority in all matters related to medical education.
TVK leaders have given this statement when there are strong demonstrations in Delhi regarding the irregularities in the NEET exam. The party clearly said that this national level entrance examination should be stopped completely. As a solution, the party has suggested that education should be removed from the Concurrent List of the Constitution and put in the State List.
TVK also said that if there is any legal or administrative hurdle in putting education in the state list, then it should be removed. Another suggestion the party made was that until the states get full powers, a ‘Special Concurrent List’ could be made. Party leaders said that their leader C. Joseph Vijay has already made his stand clear in this regard.
On this occasion, TVK also targeted DMK. TVK alleged that DMK had made a false promise to the people to abolish NEET. The party reminded that during the 2021 assembly elections, DMK had promised to cancel NEET if voted to power. TVK leaders clarified, “We will never indulge in politics of deception to get votes and make false promises like ‘we will cancel NEET’.”
