Delhi Court has reserved its verdict on the allegation of including Sonia Gandhi’s name in the voter list before she became an Indian citizen. The court will give its order on August 13 on petitioner Vikas Tripathi’s petition demanding registration of FIR.
New Delhi [भारत]July 25 (ANI): Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on Saturday reserved its order on a revision petition related to the issue of inclusion of Sonia Gandhi’s name in the voter list.
Revision petitioner Vikas Tripathi has alleged that his name was included in the voter list even before he became an Indian citizen. He is demanding registration of FIR in this case, which was rejected by the Magistrate Court. This order has been challenged in the revision petition. Special judge Vishal Gogne reserved the order to pronounce the verdict on August 13.
Meanwhile, the court has asked the lawyers to file written arguments, if any, by August 1.
What arguments did the lawyers give in the court?
Senior advocates RS Cheema and Tarannum Cheema appeared on behalf of Sonia Gandhi. He argued that the documents produced by the petitioner were not genuine. At the same time, senior advocate Ajay Burman and advocate Neeraj appeared on behalf of petitioner Vikas Tripathi. He argued that the defendants are unable to explain how her (Sonia Gandhi) name was included in the voter list before she became an Indian citizen.

On July 4, Congress leader Sonia Gandhi had filed her reply to a plea seeking filing of additional documents in the case related to the alleged inclusion of her name in the voter list before becoming an Indian citizen.
The case allegedly pertains to the inclusion of Sonia Gandhi’s name in the voter list before she became an Indian citizen. On May 16, an application was filed on behalf of petitioner Vikas Tripathi to bring an additional document on record. On April 18, after the counter arguments were over, the petitioner sought permission to place on record a document, which is a 1980 Election Commission report. Subsequently, an application was filed by Vikas Tripathi for filing additional documents.
On March 30, the court heard the arguments of the complainant against Sonia Gandhi. The court also heard Sonia Gandhi’s lawyer. The court had asked Sonia Gandhi’s lawyer, “How will you sidestep the issue that Sonia Gandhi had become a voter even before she became a citizen of India in 1983?”
Sonia Gandhi’s lawyer, senior advocate RS Cheema, had argued that this is a kind of phishing and roaming investigation; The ACJM had come to the right conclusion. On the other hand, senior advocate Burman argued that it was not possible to get one’s name included in the voter list without becoming an Indian citizen. We are trying to show the court that this could have been done only through forged documents or fraud.
The court had said, “You are before the court demanding an FIR. This matter is almost half a century old. Who will investigate? You are expanding its scope.” Senior lawyer of petitioner Vikas Tripathi had said that he is aware of this fact. We have now received a copy from the Election Commission. We had applied for a copy of the list and we were provided with verified copies.
The court had said, “The only information you are providing as on date is the circumstances of addition and deletion of names.” The complainant’s lawyer had said, “This is a case of declaration made by a foreign national. We have been able to show that prima facie a false declaration was made and it needs to be investigated.” “We are demanding an investigation into the forged documents and forgery,” the senior advocate had argued. The court was hearing a revision petition against the judgment refusing to order registration of FIR. Vikas Tripathi had filed an application against Sonia Gandhi, which was rejected by the ACJM of Rouse Avenue Court. (ANI)
