The debate has been intense across the country for the last few days regarding NEET-UG paper leak and protests by students. While initially only a few select actors came out openly in support of the students, now many big Bollywood stars are also expressing their support through social media. However, after these posts surfaced, questions started being raised on social media as to why silence was maintained for so long. Meanwhile, standup comedian and ‘Bigg Boss 17’ winner Munnawar Farooqui shared a post without naming anyone, which sparked a new debate on social media. He said that when the youth were struggling on the streets, many influential people remained silent and are now raising their voices after the environment has changed.
‘Courage comes when one raises voice despite fear’
Munnawar Farooqui wrote in his Instagram post that he was disappointed that most of the celebrities expressed their opinion when the Prime Minister’s statement came out and public sentiment started changing. He wrote that for the last 25 days the youth kept struggling on the streets, facing criticism and paying the price for raising their voice, but at that time most of the big faces remained silent. Munnavar further wrote that if a stand has to be taken on any issue then it should be taken at the right time, not after the fear is over. According to him, if support is given only due to public pressure or environment, it will not be called courage but convenience.
