Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has instructed all departments to remain alert regarding drinking water system in Madhya Pradesh. Decisions like water supply by tanker in water crisis areas, control room monitoring and ban on leave of officers have been taken.

Bhopal. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has given strict instructions to all the concerned departments regarding drinking water system in the state. He said that during the summer season, complaints related to drinking water should be resolved promptly and its monitoring should be ensured every day.

Following the instructions of the Chief Minister, leave of employees and officers of urban body, panchayat, public health engineering department (PHE), water corporation and other departments related to drinking water system has been banned with immediate effect. Leave will be granted only in extremely necessary circumstances.

Chief Secretary held review meeting with collectors

On the instructions of the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary Anurag Jain held a meeting with all the collectors, officials of Municipal Corporation, Panchayat, PHE and urban bodies through video conferencing. In the meeting, the Chief Secretary directed that a central control room should be made in every district and a special committee of officers should be formed to monitor the drinking water system. This committee will review daily and ensure drinking water supply.

Strict action on irregularities in water distribution through tankers

Chief Secretary Anurag Jain told the officials that there should not be any irregularity in the areas where water is being supplied by tankers. He directed to take strict steps to stop misuse of tankers. He said that adequate drinking water should be made available in water crisis areas by coordinating with public representatives. Besides, instructions were given to fill water in all the water tanks equally and to connect the electricity department with this scheme. The Chief Secretary clearly said that the electricity connection of any tap-water scheme should not be cut.

Rs 1500 crore released for rural areas

The Chief Secretary informed that the State Government has released Rs 1500 crore for the construction of borewells and other water sources in rural areas. Apart from this, an additional amount of Rs 55 crore has also been made available to the Panchayats for the maintenance of water structures. He said that effective mechanisms should be prepared at every level and the drinking water crisis should be controlled through regular reviews.

CM Helpline and instructions for quick resolution of complaints

Chief Secretary Anurag Jain said that the collector himself should monitor the control room. He directed that complaints received from public representatives, CM Helpline and Public Service Guarantee should be resolved in minimum time. He said that a special action plan should be prepared for the next one month and strictly monitored and better communication should be maintained with the public.

Panchayats got additional responsibility for water conservation works

It was told in the meeting that new SOP has been implemented and now Panchayats will be able to do water conservation and conservation work worth up to Rs 10,000 on their own. The Chief Secretary said that the funds of the 15th and 16th Finance Commission can also be used for drinking water availability and water conservation works. Panchayats have been instructed to strengthen the drinking water system with their own resources.

Emphasis on vigilance and alternative arrangements on water sources

Additional Chief Secretary Neeraj Mandloi instructed the collectors to continuously monitor all the water sources and ensure that there is no decline in the water level. He stressed on preparing alternative water sources in advance and preparing backup arrangements for water crisis areas.

Instructions to link Ganga Dussehra programs with water conservation

Additional Chief Secretary Shiv Shekhar Shukla said that Ganga Dussehra programs will be organized across the state on 25th and 26th May. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav himself will participate in the programs to be held on the Kshipra beach of Ujjain. He directed that these events should be linked to water conservation and drinking water awareness campaigns and maximum participation of public representatives and common citizens should be ensured.
