India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has broken yet another big record playing for the Mumbai Indians in the 2026 Indian Premier League.
On Sunday, May 24, during MI’s last league game of the season, he made history by being just the second player to achieve 4000 runs for the team in T20 cricket. Surya required 40 runs against the Rajasthan Royals to reach 4000 T20 runs for the Mumbai Indians. Surya was kept by MI for Rs 16.35 crore prior to the IPL 2025 mega auction. On the second ball of the tenth over, he smashed Yash Raj Punja for a six to attain the milestone.
Suryakumar will play his 127th T20 match for the Mumbai Indians on May 24, 2026. He currently has 4002* runs for the team. MI’s top run scorer in Twenty20 cricket is still Rohit Sharma, who was removed for a duck in the current match against Rajasthan Royals. Rohit has scored 6432 runs in 245 games for the Mumbai-based team.
