Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav inaugurated Green Building Seminar and IBC meeting. He talked about promoting green infrastructure in the state by emphasizing on environment-friendly construction, water conservation and use of ancient technologies.
Bhopal. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav inaugurated the All India Seminar on Green Building Technology and the 113th Governing Council Meeting of the Indian Building Congress (IBC) on May 2. The program was organized at Kushabhau Thackeray Auditorium, where the Chief Minister started the program by lighting the lamp. After this, collective singing of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’ was also done.

Public Works Minister Rakesh Singh welcomed the Chief Minister with a shawl, quince and memento. During this, a short film based on the activities of the Project Implementation Unit of the Public Works Department (PWD) was also presented. The department’s souvenir, newsletter and IBC’s ‘Built Environment’ magazine were also released in the programme. Also, PWD signed an important MoU with IIT Indore and GRIHA institution.
Ancient construction techniques and heritage of India. Address of CM Mohan Yadav
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav in his address said that Raja Bhoj enriched the ancient Indian construction tradition through Bhoj letters and construction works. He told that our world is made up of five elements, in which the earth has a special place. Dongla near Ujjain is considered to be the geographical center of the earth, which has been the center of time calculation since ancient times.
He described Mandav Mahal located near Indore as an excellent example of architecture, where due to the pond, the entire building remains cool. Apart from this, giving the example of Sringeri situated on the banks of Tungabhadra river, he underlined the specialty of Indian architecture.
Need for development with nature. Mention of Prime Minister Modi’s vision
The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has combined ancient knowledge and tradition with modern science. Today there is a need that we learn from nature and develop by maintaining balance with it. Giving examples of the construction work done around the Big Pond in Bhopal and the Shipra River in Ujjain, he explained how development can be done without disrupting the natural flow.
Emphasis on water conservation campaign and green infrastructure
Dr. Yadav said that along with development, proper use of resources is necessary. For this purpose, the state government is promoting green building technology. He said that global warming has become a big challenge, to deal with which environment friendly construction is necessary.
The government has started water conservation campaign from Gudhi Padwa to Ganga Dussehra. Under this, wells, stepwells and other water structures are being renovated across the state. He said that a resolution has been taken to work on water conservation every year and Madhya Pradesh remains the leader in the country in this field.
Statement of Rakesh Singh. Confluence of ancient technology and modern construction
Public Works Minister Rakesh Singh said that ancient Indian techniques are being adopted for sustainable and environment-friendly construction in the state. Giving examples of Harappan civilization and Angkor Wat temple, he said that special attention was paid to balance with nature in these constructions. He said that now all the buildings being constructed in the state will be based on green building technology. Apart from this, 3D manufacturing technology is also being promoted, which will prove useful in future.
Environmental protection and preparation for the future. government initiative
Rakesh Singh said that in view of the possibility of energy crisis in future, green building technology will prove important. It has better ventilation and natural light. He said that last year more than 506 public welfare ponds were built in the state and engineers planted 2.5 lakh saplings. Rain water harvesting technology is also being incorporated in the construction of highways and flyovers in the state, which is a big step towards environmental protection.
