In the review meeting of the AYUSH department, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav gave instructions to establish AYUSH wellness centers at religious tourist places, Panchakarma units and AYUSH wings in district hospitals. Emphasis was laid on expansion of Ayurveda treatment and AYUSH services in the state.

Bhopal. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav took information about the plans and progress of the AYUSH Department in the review meeting held in the Ministry on May 22. In the meeting, he said that the initiative to develop Ayurveda based medical services and wellness centers at religious tourist places is commendable. He directed that by studying such successful experiments and innovations in other states, better models should be prepared in Madhya Pradesh so that the benefits of these facilities can reach more and more people.

The Chief Minister said that it is necessary to promote medical systems related to Indian tradition. In many parts of the state, experienced Ayurvedacharyas are providing better treatment to the people. He said that in many places including Ujjain, there have been examples of patients getting benefits from Ayurveda method without surgery.

Ayush Health and Wellness Centers will open in 12 districts

It was informed in the meeting that under the MOU signed with the Tourism Department, 12 AYUSH Health and Wellness Centers are being established in the state. These include major religious and tourist places like Khajuraho, Omkareshwar, Chanderi, Chitrakoot, Pachmarhi and Orchha. Apart from this, AYUSH facilities will also be expanded in Ujjain, Datia, Mandsaur, Alirajpur, Singrauli and Agar-Malwa. The government aims to provide people with the benefits of natural and traditional medicine by combining tourism and health services.

Government’s focus on Vayomitra and Karunya Yojana

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that ‘Vayomitra’ scheme, which provides door-to-door health services to elderly citizens, is proving useful. Under the ‘Karunya’ scheme, work is also being done to provide a better life to patients suffering from incurable diseases. He directed that people who have been taking benefits of Ayurvedic treatment for a long time should also be included in incentive programs, so that people’s confidence in the traditional medical system increases further.

Ayush wing and Panchakarma unit will be built in district hospitals

It was informed in the meeting that under Health Policy-2017 and Vision-2047, separate wings are being prepared for AYUSH treatment in district level hospitals. A plan has also been made to set up Panchakarma units in each AYUSH wing. The Chief Minister gave instructions to increase the speed of these projects. Also, emphasis was laid on implementing schemes like Supraja, Ayurvidya, Vayomitra, Muscular-Skeletal Preventive Program and Karunya in a more effective manner.

Distribution of Ayurveda medicines in sickle cell affected districts

The government is also working towards ensuring distribution of Ayurvedic medicines in tribal dominated and sickle cell anemia affected districts. Officials were instructed to increase the reach of AYUSH services in needy areas.

Preparation of AYUSH wing in hospitals of 22 districts

It was told in the meeting that the process of setting up AYUSH wings in allopathy hospitals of 22 districts of the state is going on. Apart from this, preparations are also underway to start five new Ayurvedic colleges and 50 bedded AYUSH hospitals in 12 districts. Under the National AYUSH Mission, approval has been given for construction of new Ayurvedic colleges in Narmadapuram, Morena, Shahdol, Balaghat, Sagar, Jhabua and Shujalpur.

Preparation for expansion of AYUSH colleges and research centers

Administrative and academic buildings are being constructed at a cost of Rs 29 crore in the Pandit Khushi Lal Sharma Government Autonomous Ayurveda College campus located in Bhopal. 6 district AYUSH offices of the state have been ready, while the construction of 53 out of 80 AYUSH dispensary buildings has been completed. A target has been set to develop all 9 AYUSH colleges as first referral units in the financial year 2026-27. The government is also working towards constructing hostels in all AYUSH colleges, increasing the seat capacity to 100, making Unani courses available in Hindi and promoting research activities. Plan to start AYUSH Research Center in Balaghat is also included.

Ayush treatment will get cashless facility

With the cooperation of the Labor Department, preparations are being made to provide cashless facility of AYUSH treatment to about 13 lakh labor families registered in the Employees’ State Insurance Scheme. Along with this, the process of including AYUSH treatment in health insurance schemes has also started.

A provision of about Rs 75 crore has been made for setting up pharmacy departments in 7 AYUSH colleges in the state, the initiative of AYUSH University, starting Naturopathy and Yoga colleges and starting 20 mobile medical units in districts deprived of AYUSH facilities.
