Mohammed Siraj Ruled Out: Why was Mohammed Siraj dropped from the T20 series against Ireland and England? Which player has been included in the Indian team in place of Siraj? What is the complete schedule of Team India for the T20 series against Ireland and England?
Indian cricket team’s star fast bowler Mohammad Siraj will not be a part of the upcoming T20 series against Ireland and England. While giving official information on Wednesday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said that Siraj has been given rest under workload management.
Siraj’s name was earlier included in the 16-member team captained by Shreyas Iyer, but after the advice of the medical team and team management, it was decided to keep him out of the series. In his place, fast bowler Prasidh Krishna has been included in the team.
Why was the decision taken to rest Siraj?
Mohammad Siraj has been playing cricket continuously in the last few months. From IPL 2026 till international matches, he has been continuously responsible for the Indian team and his franchise. BCCI said in its statement that in view of the long international season, it is important to manage Siraj’s workload. The board wants Siraj to remain completely fit and fresh in the upcoming important tournaments and series. This decision has been taken not because of any injury but as a precaution.

Famous Krishna got a big opportunity
In the absence of Siraj, Team India has expressed confidence in Prasidh Krishna. He has returned to the T20 International team after a long time. Prasidh played his last T20 International in November 2023. Recently he performed brilliantly for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2026. Apart from this, he also bowled impressively in the Mullanpur Test against Afghanistan and took three wickets. Now they will get a golden opportunity to prove themselves against strong teams like Ireland and England.
Siraj remained continuously active in IPL and Test cricket
Mohammad Siraj was recently a part of the Indian team in the only Test match played against Afghanistan. India had won this match by a huge margin of innings and 300 runs. Siraj bowled 13 overs in the match and took one wicket. Earlier in IPL 2026, he played all 17 matches for Gujarat Titans and played an important role in taking the team to the finals. However, Gujarat had to face defeat in the final and the team remained runner-up.
Siraj will be seen playing in Afghanistan ODI series
However, despite being out of the T20 series, Mohammad Siraj has not completely separated from the Indian team. He will remain a part of the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan starting from June 13. This means that cricket fans will not have to wait much longer to see Siraj on the field.
New mission will start from Ireland tour
The Indian team will first go on a tour of Ireland, where it has to play two T20 matches on June 26 and June 28. After this, a five-match T20 series will be played against England from July 1. Under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, this series can prove to be a big platform for many young players of Team India to prove themselves.

This decision is part of Team India’s strategy
