Imran Khan’s partner Lekha Washington has broken her silence on being called a ‘home breaker’. She said that such labels are meant to control women. According to Lekha, people pass judgment without knowing the reality and she will not lower herself for anyone.

Imran’s first marriage was to Avantika Malik, with whom he also has a daughter. When Imran’s name was linked to Lekha after his separation from Avantika, Lekha had to face a lot of trolling. Now recently, she has broken her silence on calling herself a ‘homewrecker’.
Speaking to ETimes, Lekha said, “I have worked as an actor in the South for a decade and spent another decade making art. In between, some difficult things have happened in the press. I remained silent for a long time, but now I am speaking out slowly. It has been a journey of coming out. Maybe there will be others like me who will see that it is possible to feel free even in a culture that often tells you to stay within a box and clip your wings.” Our society may be controlling, but I was very disappointed for some time, but now I understand everything clearly.

On her relationship with Imran and being called vulgar names, she further said, “Since I was 16, I have been called all kinds of names – both while growing up in Chennai and after. Labels like ‘slut’ and ‘home breaker’ are often used to degrade and control women. These things do not define me, and I will not belittle myself for someone else’s happiness. That is what I stand by today. People who put such labels don’t really understand the intricacies of someone else’s relationship, so how can they judge? I would rather talk about my work, and yet people judge me based on my proximity to a man, rather than about me.”

According to reports, Imran started dating Lekha in 2020. The two are said to have grown closer to each other during the COVID-19 lockdown and their relationship has been going strong since then.
