Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal said on Tuesday that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ‘Vijay Rath’ will stop in Punjab. This comment of Kejriwal has come at a time when BJP is celebrating its spectacular victory in the recently held West Bengal Assembly elections.
The AAP chief accused the BJP of ‘kidnapping and killing’ democracy through election manipulation.
Accusations were made against BJP
He said, ‘What happened in West Bengal was not an election. We were watching what was happening there for months. The same thing happened in Bihar, Maharashtra and even in my own New Delhi constituency. Kejriwal said, ‘Today democracy is in danger. There was a Narendra Modi wave in 2014 and they (BJP) kept winning elections continuously. In February 2015, it got only three seats in Delhi. If they come to power in Punjab, they will ruin the state.
Allegations of use of ED, CBI
He alleged that even if a rival party wins the election, it does not make much difference to the BJP as it puts agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) behind them, uses money power, indulges in horse-trading of MLAs, tries to break parties, topple governments, send leaders to jail and ensure that their ‘votes’ are deducted.
Prediction made for BJP
Kejriwal said that the assembly elections to be held in Punjab in 2027 will be the last elections for ‘Prime Minister Modi’. He said, ‘Once again a wave is being created. They are winning everywhere, Assam, Bengal, Bihar, Maharashtra and Delhi,… but this Ashwamedha Ghode (BJP) will be stopped in the Punjab Assembly elections to be held in the coming February. Modi government will fall after Punjab elections. Modi government will end from Punjab only.
Claims of AAP wave in Punjab
Kejriwal claimed that there is a pro-incumbency wave in favor of the ‘AAP’ government in Punjab and every village is recognizing the work done by the administration. He said, ‘It rarely happens that people praise a government. Usually, only after four years, people start saying that the anti-incumbency wave is in full swing. But the situation is different in Punjab. AAP can go to any village or area in the state, AAP will not see any anti-incumbency wave there; Rather, a pro-government wave will be seen.
Furious at MPs who left the party
Referring to the seven Rajya Sabha members who recently left AAP and joined BJP, Kejriwal said that these seats belonged to Punjabis. He said, ‘BJP has snatched these seats from Punjab and now we all have to work to stop them. History is witness to the fact that Punjab has stopped foreign invaders, but this time the enemies are within. Punjabis will have to stop them.
Kejriwal said, ‘Whenever India was attacked, the attack came from the West and Punjab stood as a shield, shedding its blood to stop the invaders.’ Apart from Kejriwal, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also addressed the state MLAs gathered at Kapurthala House.
CM Mann met the President
Earlier, Mann met President Draupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan and urged him to cancel the membership of six Rajya Sabha members from the state who had left AAP and joined BJP. BJP leaders have expressed confidence of repeating the success achieved in West Bengal in the Punjab Assembly elections to be held in 2027.
