Whatsapp-Youtube Like Earn Fraud: Nowadays, some people using smartphones are getting similar messages on WhatsApp or Telegram. The message reads, ‘Hello, I am from a digital marketing company. All you have to do is like and subscribe to our clients’ YouTube videos. You will get ₹50 for every like. You can earn ₹2000 to ₹5000 daily sitting at home. If you have also received such a message and you are considering this as a good means of part-time earning, then stop. This is not a job, but a very vicious online scam to completely clean your bank account. Let us know how this gang works, how people get trapped in the trap laid by them and how you have to avoid it.
Tasting Bait: The trick with which people believe it to be true
The biggest reason for this scam spreading so fast is that these fraudsters do not cheat you in the beginning, but actually put money in your pocket. In cyber language this is called ‘tasting bait’. Many people accept this as true. This entire game is played in three steps.
How does a scam happen?
1. Paying to win trust
As soon as you reply to their messages, they send you links to 2-3 YouTube videos. You take a screenshot and send it and they literally transfer ₹150 to ₹200 to your bank account or UPI. You think the job is right. There is nothing fake in this.
2.Lurement of Telegram group and VIP task
After transferring the money, they add you to a Telegram group, where hundreds of people are already present, who are actually members of their gang. There it is shown that people are earning ₹ 10,000 daily. After this there is the entry of ‘VIP Prepaid Task’.
3. Big investment and account freeze game
Now you are told that if you deposit ₹5,000, you will get ₹7,000 back. Initially, if you invest ₹ 1000-₹ 2000, they increase the amount, but as soon as you invest a bigger amount like ₹ 50,000 or ₹ 1 lakh, they say that your score is ‘low’ or you have to pay tax and your money is blocked.
Where do scammers get your number from?
In fact, when you login to any random website, put your resume on job portals or give access to your phone to any unsafe app, your data gets leaked from there. These scammers buy the database of mobile numbers from the dark web at wholesale rates and then target millions of people simultaneously through bulk messaging software.
What to do if the message comes?
Block and report immediately
As soon as you see such a luring message, without saying anything, ‘Block & Report’ that number on WhatsApp.
Do not take even 1 rupee due to greed
Many people think that ‘let’s start with ₹200 and block them.’ Don’t do this at all. Scammers’ accounts are often fraudulent. If even ₹ 200 comes to your account from their account, your bank account can also be frozen (seized) due to cyber cell investigation.
Do not share any personal details
To win your trust, they ask for bank account number, name and UPI ID, giving which can be a big threat to your privacy.
