Maruti Suzuki Electric 7-Seater MPV- What To Expect?

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is the undisputed leader of the MPV segment in India. Maruti has been in the lead in this segment for years now. Considering the need, the automaker is expected to introduce an all-electric 7-seater MPV. Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Electric 7-seater MPV-

Maruti Suzuki Electric 7-Seater- YMC

After the e-Vitara, the next all-electric Maruti could be the YMC (codename). Unlike the e-Vitara, which is more focused on compact urban-specific usage, the YMC is expected to be a spacious 3-row MPV. YMC is to feature the same HEARTECT-e platform as the e-Vitara. And with the test mule being spotted earlier, the launch does seem very far. Here is what you can expect from the electric MPV-

Looks-

On the outside, this electric MPV would be nothing like any other Maruti MPV. This upcoming Maruti will feature an upright stance with a boxy design. While the dimensions of the YMC are still under wraps, the spy shots reveal that the MPV holds a decent road presence with a longer wheelbase and width. We can expect YMC to derive various design elements from the e-Vitara itself. Expected to feature the subtle muscular looks with chunky body cladding and bulging fenders. To the front, we can expect the Y-shaped projector headlamps. Even the aero wheels in the test mule seem to be identical to the e-Vitara. What else?

Interiors & Features-

The feature-loaded interiors of the e-Vitara are expected to be shared with the YMC as well. Inside the cabin, it is expected to come equipped with a 10.1-inch infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display. Other features include ventilated seats, a power-adjustable driver seat, and much more. Over the e-Vitara, the YMC could feature a larger sunroof that also opens, unlike the e-Vitara. For added drivers, convince the MPV will also feature a 360-degree parking camera and ADAS Level-2. Also, as we have seen in other modern Marutis that share the platform with the e-Vitara, we could expect the YMC to secure a good 5-star safety rating.

Powertrain-

Along with the interiors, we can also expect the powertrains to be carried over from the e-Vitara. Under the hood, we can expect tightly packaged electronics, but we could miss out on a frunk. YMC is expected to feature two battery options: 49 kWh (142bhp & 193Nm) and 61 kWh (172bhp & 193Nm). With the claimed range of about 440 km and 543 km, respectively. Not just this, alongside the battery pack, we can also expect the AWD offering to be introduced with the MPV, improving driving dynamics even further. With fast-charging support and a claimed range of over 500 km, the YMC could be a people carrier for planned long-distance journeys.

Rivals-

Once launched in India, the direct rival to the Maruti YMC, which is currently on sale, will be the Kia Carens Clavis EV. Alongside YMC, Toyota will introduce an all-electric 7-seater MPV based on the YMC, which would also be a rival to the YMC. Another rival to this MPV will be the BYD eMax 7.

Expected Launch & Pricing-

From the earlier spotting, we can say that Maruti is planning to introduce this all-electric MPV to the market soon. That being said, we can expect it by early 2027. To take on the already launched 3-row MPV, the Clavis EV, Maruti Suzuki is expected to be priced between Rs 17 lakh and Rs 25 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). And with the Baas offering this price, it can go down by a further Rs 5 lakh. What do you think about this upcoming 7-seater?
