Hyundai has been working on a new compact SUV, which will take on the popular Tata Punch EV. And now, it has been spotted again, revealing a few more elements than before. So, let’s dive into the details of the upcoming Hyundai SUV!
Hyundai SUV Spotted

A Hyundai SUV was spotted testing in Navi Mumbai around the beginning of the year, and it looked different from every existing Hyundai – confirming that this is an all-new SUV, not a facelift or a new-gen of its existing SUV. And now, this SUV has been spotted in South Korea. The source of the image stated that this is the HE1i (possibly a codename). The test mule was seen in a parking garage with full camouflage.
This upcoming Hyundai SUV will be an electric SUV, but the brand could offer it with ICE powertrain options later on. We believe that Hyundai could name this SUV the Ioniq 2 or Ioniq 1. This boxy electric SUV will take on one of the best-selling EVs in India, the Punch EV. Moreover, this will be Hyundai’s first electric vehicle in the lower segment, possibly an entry-level EV. The boxy design, bold 17-inch alloy wheels, 4-dot DRLs, and an imposing stance will help this Hyundai SUV stand out from the crowd. That being said, what can we expect to see from this upcoming Hyundai SUV? Let’s take a look!
What To Expect?

Hyundai has a tiny electric car in many international markets, the Inster, and we believe that the HE1i would likely be based on the same platform (K1) as the Inster. However, we expect the upcoming Hyundai SUV to borrow features from the Venue. Expected features include a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, a powered driver seat, automatic climate control, an electric sunroof and much more.
We expect the HE1i to get the same battery pack options as the Inster – a 42kWh battery pack (expected range 350km) and a 49kWh battery pack (expected range 400km). As it will likely be based on Hyundai’s K1 platform, much like the Venue, we can expect this to be one of the safest electric SUVs in India. We expect Hyundai to price this SUV anywhere between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 16 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Hyundai could launch this EV by mid-2027.
