Maruti Suzuki is preparing to launch the Baleno facelift in India on September 5, 2026, giving its premium hatchback a major update after four years. The facelift will bring changes to the exterior, cabin and feature list, while the underlying powertrains are expected to remain largely unchanged.
Baleno facelift: New design
The updated Baleno is expected to retain its familiar overall silhouette but receive a revised front fascia. Spy shots suggest a redesigned grille with a horizontal bar connecting the headlights, along with a new front bumper.
The car could also get new alloy wheels, while changes at the rear are expected to include a revised bumper. The existing headlight and boomerang-shaped DRL design could continue.
More features expected
The cabin layout is likely to remain similar to the current model, but Maruti could introduce new upholstery and updated interior trims.
The facelift could also bring a larger 10.1-inch infotainment system, wireless charging and additional equipment. Ventilated front seats and ADAS features have also been reported, although the complete feature list will be confirmed at launch.
Engine and gearbox
Baleno facelift is expected to continue with the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, producing around 90hp. It is likely to be offered with a five-speed manual and AMT.
The CNG version is also expected to continue, with a five-speed manual gearbox. Reports suggest Maruti could introduce a CNG-AMT combination, although this remains to be officially confirmed.
Expected price
The current Baleno is priced from around Rs 5.99 lakh to Rs 9.48 lakh (ex-showroom). The facelift is expected to command a slight premium due to its design and feature upgrades.
The updated Baleno will continue to rival the Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz and Toyota Glanza.
