The new generation i.e. Gen-Z is giving utmost importance to work-life balance. Staying late to please the boss or picking up the phone on a holiday, all this is no longer acceptable to them. A post on this has gone viral.
The old culture of working long hours in companies to please the boss is no longer acceptable to the new generation. ‘Gen-Z’ i.e. today’s young employees want to draw a clear line between work and personal life. The new methods of his office are currently being discussed a lot on social media.
This debate started when an ex (Twitter) user named Sheetal Rizwani shared her cousin’s office experience. The post reads that the ‘Millennial’ generation, which came before them, stays late in the office to show up to the boss because they do not have the courage to speak out against it and have become accustomed to enduring exploitation. According to the post, all Gen-Z employees in the office are on the same page. As soon as work hours end, everyone leaves the office together, no one stopping to show the manager.
These young employees do not even answer phone calls from the office after working hours or on weekends. If a manager talks to them poorly, they complain directly to HR. Because of their unity, HR has to take action against the managers. The post mentions another incident, when the office AC broke down, Gen-Z employees informed HR and left the office. They came back only when the AC was fixed.
People are making different types of comments on this post of Sheetal. Some people are in support and some are against. On the matter of Millennials not having courage, one user wrote, ‘Millennials have home loan and family responsibilities, hence they do not take such risks, it is not that they do not have courage.’

At the same time, some people also say that the risk of job loss is increasing due to AI, hence such stubbornness can harm the career. Sometimes a little extra time has to be given to complete the work. However, most people are praising Gen-Z’s move towards work-life balance.
