Meteorological Department issued alert in many districts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert in Wayanad and Kozhikode on Tuesday, predicting extremely heavy rainfall in these districts of Kerala. At the same time, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places in Kannur and Kasaragod.

According to the IMD’s district rainfall forecast, Malappuram is also expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places, while Idukki, Thrissur and Palakkad are likely to receive heavy rainfall at isolated places during the day.

Weather forecast for next 5 days

The weather office said there is a strong possibility of rain in all the districts of Kerala for the next five days. However, its intensity is expected to gradually reduce from July 10 onwards, and light to moderate rain is forecast over most districts till July 11.

The forecast suggests that the districts of central Kerala, including Alappuzha, Kottayam and Ernakulam, may receive heavy rainfall at isolated places on July 8, after which the situation will improve towards the end of the week.

IMD has advised residents of the affected districts to remain alert as heavy rains may cause waterlogging, reduced visibility and localized disruptions. (ANI)
