UDF government ministers in Kerala get a monthly salary of ₹97,429 and other facilities. The Chief Minister also receives a monthly salary of around ₹1,85,000 along with facilities like bungalow, car, free medical treatment and lifetime pension.
Thiruvananthapuram: UDF government has been formed in Kerala after 10 years and V.D. Satheesan has taken oath as the Chief Minister. Along with him, 20 more members have also taken oath as ministers. Now the job of these ministers is to handle their respective departments, answer the questions of the opposition in the Assembly and work for the welfare of the public. The basic salary of ministers is only Rs 2000. But he gets Dearness Allowance (DA) of Rs 38,429 every month. In addition, Rs 40,000 are given as constituency allowance and Rs 17,000 are given as traveling allowance. In this way, a minister gets a total salary of Rs 97,429 every month. Apart from salary, ministers and their families also get full medical cover. They also have the facility to take vehicle advance of Rs 10 lakh and house advance of Rs 20 lakh. Additionally, every minister is also given a government bungalow, a car and a pilot vehicle.
Chief Minister’s salary and facilities
Now let’s talk about the Chief Minister. According to reports, on becoming the Chief Minister, V.D. Satheeshan will get around Rs 1,85,000 every month including basic salary and allowances. Apart from this, they will also get a government vehicle for travel and pilot vehicles for security. Not only this, the Chief Minister of Kerala also gets special travel allowance and facilities for train and air travel. The Chief Minister and his family are also provided completely free medical treatment. If the Chief Minister completes his 5-year tenure, he also gets a lifetime pension. The Chief Minister gets a government bungalow named ‘Cliff House’ to live in, which is tightly guarded 24 hours a day.
